Lengthen Your Eyelashes with Latisse

Latisse is an FDA-approved medication that lengthens your eyelashes, restores color, and makes lashes thicker. It also improves growth in places where eyelashes suffer deficiencies. It is applied topically to the base of your upper eyelashes.

The medication needs to be applied nightly to achieve the desired results. The timeline of results differs from patient to patient. While some may notice changes in just a few weeks, others tend to take a longer time.

The drug is commonly used by women who have noticed eyelash deficiencies such as thinning, discoloration, lack of growth, and shorter eyelashes.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Latisse contains a drug called Bimatoprost. This component causes the lashes to become thicker and darker, making them more noticeable. Moreover, the drug increases the growth of eyelashes. Other than those interested in the drug for cosmetic reasons, Latisse is also prescribed to glaucoma patients.

HOW TO USE

Before applying the medication, make sure to clean your hands and face. Wash your face thoroughly and remove all makeup. It is also recommended to take off your contact lenses before applying the medication.

Latisse comes with numerous applicators in the pack to make it easier to apply. Once your face is clean, you can use the applicator to apply Latisse onto your upper eyelids where the eyelashes begin. The medication will eventually be transferred to your lower lashes as you blink. Do not apply the medication on your lower lashes directly.

Please note that any excess medication on your eyelid or eye needs to be wiped away. Applicators need to be discarded after every use as re-using might lead to infections.

Do not use more than the prescribed amount of medication. Using more will not help speed up the effects and might increase prevalence of side effects. Minor side effects of the medication include skin darkening around the eyelids and changing of eye color.

If the medication is stopped, your eyelashes will return to their original state. Results are usually seen after a few months of daily application. Your doctor might change your medication application routine from once a day to once every alternate day after consistent usage.

PRECAUTIONS

Latisse is a medication, and before using it, you must consider the possible side effects and interactions that might take place. As such, patients must reveal their medical history and any existing allergies to their doctors before being prescribed Latisse.

Medical problems related to the eye can also affect diagnosis. If you develop an eye condition, always consult a doctor to see if you should continue using the medication. Pregnant and breastfeeding women need to take precautions to make sure that the drug does not interfere with their health.

SAFETY

Patients who have used Latisse find that it is safe and easy to use. However, in some cases, you may experience an itching sensation around the eye, redness, eye irritation, and dryness. Ideally, all of these can be avoided by strictly following the directions given with the medication. So make sure you consult an experienced doctor before you start the treatment.
