Brow Lift Options: The Endoscopic Brow Lift

The brow lift, also known as the forehead lift, helps to tighten sagging eyebrows by reducing the wrinkles in the forehead and on the bridge of the nose. It reduces frown lines and creases around the eyes as well. The resulting effects of this procedure are a youthful-looking forehead and taut eyebrows. One option for this procedure is the endoscopic brow lift.

YOUR BROW LIFT CONSULTATION

Your surgeon will ask you to get a medical evaluation done. You will either be advised to take certain medicines to help you prepare for the surgery or told to stop taking certain medicines such as aspirin and anti-inflammatory drugs; these drugs can increase the chances of bleeding.

During your consultation, you will also be able to discuss your brow lift goals with your surgeon. Your brow lift options will be explained, and one of these options may be the endoscopic brow lift technique. The proper anesthesia for the procedure will also be chosen.

THE ENDOSCOPIC BROW LIFT PROCEDURE

To make you comfortable during your endoscopic brow lift surgery, anesthesia will be administered. In an endoscopic brow lift, an endoscope – a thin tube fitted with a camera on the end – is used. This tool allows the surgeon a closer look at the underlying tissues of the region.

The endoscope is inserted into one of the three to five small incisions made within the hairline. Other special instruments are also inserted in order to make minute adjustments to the tissue. In this way, corrections of the evident furrows and creases in the forehead are made.

Sometimes, in order to avoid an increase in the width of the forehead or a change in the height of the front hairline, incisions are made in the anterior hairline. The incisions are stitched up using removable or dissolvable sutures. At times, special clips, skin adhesives, or surgical tape are also used.

An endoscopic forehead lift can be done along with other cosmetic procedures such as the facelift, skin resurfacing, and eyelid tucks.

QUALITY RESULTS

You will notice the results of your endoscopic forehead lift almost immediately. Smoother and more youthful-looking forehead skin will be visible after the swelling and bruising goes away. It takes a couple of months to see the final results. You will have to maintain a healthy lifestyle and protect your skin from the harsh rays of the sun in order to prevent new age lines from forming in your skin.

THE RECOVERY PERIOD

During the period of recovery, your forehead will be taped and your head loosely wrapped. This will help to reduce the swelling and bruising experienced after the surgery. Complete healing takes place in a couple of weeks.

You can go back to work after around two weeks. Remember, however, that you are not allowed to do any vigorous activities, since this can cause complications that require an extension of your recovery period. Keep your head in an elevated position, and do not use any ice or heat on the surgical area, since the tissues will be sensitive.
